Belgian Map facts.. Did you know that Belgium is divided into two parts. The northern belongings is called Flanders where they say Dutch. The southern belongings is called Walloonia where they say French. French and Dutch are teh two official languages of Belgium. This division of Belgium is more than just the language spoken. There is a abundance of strife between the two different groups. In an attempt to lessen this strife, all students are required to read both French and Dutch. This has not been totaly successful, so it is quite accepted for English to be used as a neutral language. Since its beginning, Belgium has been ruled by distinct different countries. Add to this that the Netherlands is their northern neighbor and France is their southern neighbor, and you have all the making of some serious divisions. Even with these divisions, there are three areas in which these cultures must co-exist. The first is in the capital megalopolis of Brussels, the second is along the geographical language barrier, and the third is on the beachs of the North Sea in Flanders.
